Over the next couple of weeks, I will be seeking examples of next generation advertising to see what’s working, what’s memorable, and what lessons can be learned by small and medium size business.
A memorable web advertisement for the past couple of years is Elf Yourself (http://www.elfyourself.com/) by Officemax. It’s memorable, viral (shared among family and friends) and fun, but did it drive sales or store traffic? Probably not. Which leads to a lesson for small advertisers, understand the goal of your campaign(s). Can you afford to build awareness but not drive sales? For most, the answer is No.
So our tip is for you to have clearly defined goals and when you work with your advertising partner make sure they are aware of these goals and make them accountable throughout the entire process.
